Parking Concessions for Permit Holders

Parking concessions for permit holders can differ from one local council to another. For a list of Local Government Authorities parking regulations and concessions, please click here. Permit Holders are reminded that your permit does not entitle you to free parking but signage may indicate a time extension is available. Please take particular care when parking in private carparks such as Wilsons, as concessions generally do not apply.

Recently we have received a large number of enquiries from permit holders about having to pay for parking at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Joondalup Health Campus. Concessions for Australian Disability Parking Permit holders at these Hospitals are outlined below:

Joondalup Health Campus

Permit holders must purchase a ticket from the machines provided and display it with their Australian Disability Parking Permit. The ticket will remain valid for double the time purchased.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

No concessions are extended to permit holders who park within the boom-gated carpark off Hospital Ave, closest to the main entrance of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. There is however a number of ACROD Parking bays located around the Hospital site providing free parking for permit holders. For example, 7 free ACROD parking bays are located near Carpark 5 off Gairdner Dr.

ACROD Parking Program Applications

The ACROD Parking Program updates permit application forms on an annual basis and is no longer accepting permit applications completed on old forms. If you would like to apply for an Australian Disability Parking Permit it is advisable that you download the latest individual parking application form or phone 9242 5544.

To be eligible for a permit, applicants must:

  • have a severe mobility impairment where walking more than 50m causes the physical condition to deteriorate and close proximity parking is required; and/or
  • require the use of a wheelchair, crutches, walking frame, callipers, or other specific mobility aid and require a wide parking bay to transfer in/out of a vehicle.
