Administration Fee
An annual administration fee of $20.00 inc GST per ACROD Organisation permit is charged. NDS WA is a non-government, not for profit organisation and uses the fee to manage and administer the ACROD Parking Program.
A postage fee has also been introduced so that permits can be sent by registered post for security reasons.
Managing your Organisation permit(s).
It is important that you are aware of where and by whom your permits are being used. An easy way to manage your permits is to keep a centralised permit log of all permits held by your organisation. The ACROD Parking Program has developed a permit log form to help you manage your ACROD parking permits:

When not in use, ensure permits are kept in a secure environment, such as a locked office. Do not leave permits in a vehicle when not in use, in an unlocked vehicle or with people who are not staff or volunteers.
Replacement Permits
If you lose an ACROD parking permit, please notify the ACROD Parking Program. We will require the permit number of the lost permit and will send you a Statutory Declaration form to complete, so that a replacement permit can be issued. The cost for a replacement permit is $15.00 inc GST plus postage.
Displaying your ACROD Organisation permit:
The new Australian Disability Parking permit features a hook, so that the permit can be hung from your rear vision mirror once the vehicle you are traveling in is parked.
Important: the permit must be removed from the rear vision mirror before driving.
If you are unable to hang your permit from the rear vision mirror you can display it on the front dash board of your vehicle.
To avoid receiving a fine, please ensure that the permit number and expiry date are clearly visible when you display your permit.
Use ACROD Organisation permits responsibly
It is an offense to mis-use your ACROD Organisation parking permit. Under Local Government Uniform General (Parking for disabled persons) Regulations (1988) mis-use of your permit may result in an infringement of up to $1000 and the permit can be revoked.
Please remember:
- ACROD Organisation permits can only be used by staff and volunteers when transporting an eligible person:
A person that has a severe mobility impairment where walking more than 50 metres causes the physical condition to deteriorate; and or
A person who requires the use of a mobility/medical aid such as a wheelchair, crutches, walking frame or oxygen.
Staff and Volunteers are not permitted to use ACROD Organisation Permits:
- for personal use - even if it is only for 5 minutes;
- if the person they are transporting has a disability, but does not meet the above eligibility criteria;
- if they are doing shopping or running errands on behalf of an eligible person and that person is not present; or
- if the eligible person they are transporting is not getting out of the vehicle.
Educating Staff about correct use of ACROD Organisation Permits
The ACROD Parking Program has developed a range of tools to assist in educating staff about correct use of ACROD Organisation Permits:
- A training presentation 179 kB which can be used at staff orientation and training days. The training presenation is also available in PowerPoint format, please contact ACROD to obtain a copy.
- A flyer / poster 162 kB which can be placed on your staff notice board, forwarded to relevant staff by email or attached to pay slips.
- An advertisement 47 kB for your staff newsletter or intranet.
Parking Concessions for Permit Holders
Parking Concessions for ACROD permit holders, can differ from one local council to another. Australian Disability Parking Permit holders are not entitled to free parking, but signage may indicate a time extension is available. Please take particular care when parking in private car parks, as concessions generally do not apply.
Mis-use of ACROD Parking Bays
- It is illegal for a person without an ACROD permit to park in ACROD Parking bay – fines of up to $1000 can apply.
- If you see someone who is illegally parked in an ACROD bay (not displaying a valid ACROD permit), the best action you can take is to contact the shopping centre management or your local council as soon as possible.
